Learn to be a thread queen using various fun quilting techniques in a stress free environment.   In these classes you will learn proper Thread Queen etiquette and learn to tame all those glitzy threads we all love.

Oh, white gloves are not required unless they are Machingers but we do like cake and tea!

Techniques -Princess Level Classes
For the beginner

Machine Quilting I
Three hours – one day
Have you always wanted to learn how to machine quilt all those interesting patterns? Learn basic free motion quilting, stippling, circles, patterns, and textures.

Machine Quilting II
Three hours – one day
Ever wonder how quilters who win the Best Machine Quilting Awards craft all those cool patterns?? And how in the world do they do it without starting and stopping?   Have you always wanted to learn how to machine quilt nature patterns without marking the quilt top?  You will learn to draw nature with your machine in this class.


No Mistakes Possible Quilt
One-two days
Matching points drive you crazy?  Can’t get your blocks to fit together?  Love those traditional patterns but can’t make a half square triangle? Have fun creating this innovative pieced quilt where NO mistakes are possible, NO points are required and exact cutting is not an issue.

Gorgeous
One – two days
Gorgeous is what your friends will be saying after you create this easy to do landscape quilt.  Use this easy  raw edge appliqué technique to make a wall hanging of your favorite vacation photograph to design a beach, mountains or a cityscape.  Easy to do with this rotary cut machine quilted landscape quilt. NO free motion quilting skill required!

Borders and Bindings My Way
Three hours – one day
Make multiple borders with this easy technique.  You will be wondering why you didn’t think of this!  Finish your quilt with  imitation piping.



Postcards/Atc(Artists Trading Cards)
Three hours- one day
Your friends and family will be thrilled to receive one of your postcards after you take this fun class.  Learn to use raw edge appliqué, glitzy threads and beads to embellish this mailart.

My Mother’s Garden
One day –two days
Are you a thread queen who dearly loves all those glitzy threads?  After taking this class you will learn a variety of ways to control annoying threads without going nuts.  You will also learn how to use your machine as if it were a colored pencil and create a charming garden scene with leaves, flowers and a 3-D thread painted Monarch butterfly.
You will learn to embellish a simple raw edge appliqué picture. Learn shadowing and highlighting as well as how to make a two sided thread painted butterfly.
 
Miniature Paintings
One day
Do you have a favorite photograph?  Learn how to accent it with your stash of rayon and metallic threads that you impulse buy because you love the colors.
In this class you will produce a fabric framed thread painting of your choice.  You will learn how to make those tiny mat frames to complete your painting also you will learn how to create a “perfect” back everytime.
 
Color Classes








Creating Texture With Paint
One Day
Learn to paint wonderful sky, water fabrics, and foliage. After taking this class you will have a wide variety of textured fabric to add to your fabric stash.  This class is designed to teach students how to paint with Setacolor or Lumiere paints.   Learning to control the paint will be emphasized.  Among other things we will cover blending, layering, and special effects with the use of pearl paints.  All of these fabrics may be used to create complex images such as portraits or a fabulous skyscape.
 
 
Wearables
Ever been to a quilt show where the attendees are wearing drop dead wearables?  This section is for you!

Princess Level- Suitable quilt show wear to make you the envy of your court!

Do you admire those $1000 silk chenille jackets at all the upscale resort boutiques? Learn how to create waves of color as you make this easy jacket for under $100.  (Can also be made with yarn dyed flannels.)

Chenille Flag Jacket (Vest/Pillow/Quilt)
One Day
This is the class for people who love chenille.  Create this cozy, original Flag Jacket.  A must for all patriotic occasions and any cool day! Create this Flag Jacket using an easy shadow chenille technique.  Discover how to add appliqués to your chenille and learn to add a professionally finished edge to your chenille project.

Pin Dolls
3 hours – 1 day
Give birth to  a pin doll–wild men, angels, bodacious babes, fantasy and seasonal dolls.  Pin dolls are poseable and can be embellished with your collection of beads and yarns. You are only limited by your imagination!


Glad Rags Jacket
One – two days
We just love raggedy things and this class has been very popular.  You will love all  back rubs you received while wearing this cozy, easy to make jacket.  Get ready for the compliments like “Did you make that!? WOW!!”  This jacket is a great way to clear your stash of buttons or a great jacket for that special child or grandchild in your life. (I bet you can’t make just one!)
Learn to make jacket bloom  with this easy techniques:  how to assemble and finish with  raw edge appliqués.  Best of all learn how to create those gorgeous raggedy edges.  In a two day workshop you will be able to go home with a completed jacket.

Thread Queen Level – Take wearables to a new level with one of these classes.  People will want to rip these gorgeous garments off your back to discover how you created them.

Have you ever gone nuts with all those beautiful rayon and metallic threads?  Have you ever wanted to learn how to couch furry yarns and shiny threads on your machine?  Ever wondered what in the world Solvy does?  And for the brave there is free motion quilting!!!  You will learn this and a whole lot more in this fun easy class.
Become the envy of your friends by making this vest or a jacket.  Learn how to take the frustration out of all those fancy threads, embellishments and  your sewing while creating a wonderful raw edge appliqué garment.

Wacky Tacky Bag
3 hour – one day
Do you just love crazy quilts, all those rayon threads and glittery things, and what about that small stash of silks and velvets you had to have. Ever used those bazillion  fancy stitches on your machine?  Time to dust off all those beads and buttons on the shelf. 
You will use all these  in this quick to make fun crazy quilt purse. No hand sewing or embroidery skills needed.  Get busy like a magpie and gather all your glittery silky fun stuff together for this class!

Embellishments Gone Wild
One – two days
Need a little bag to carry your valuables in at the quilt show…stash your credit card and room key?  Do you love crazy quilts with all the  lace, ribbons, beads and embellishments?
In this class you will learn to make either an amulet bag or a small bag that will hold all the important stuff.  Embroidery can be done by hand or machine.

Let’s Order Take Out-Boxes to GO
Even Thread Queens get tired of tea and crumpets!  Royal take out deserves only the best!
 
Box-It
One Day
What would not be yummy in this new take on the Chinese take out box.  Using those fancy machine stitches sew your way to this twist on a Chinese take out box that all your Thread Queen friends will envy. May be done with a sewing machine or embroidered by hand.
Add your favorite embellishments and you are good to go!
 
Keep-It
One Day
A stunning easy to do trifold box to use as a sculpture or to wrap that special present. Choose from two sizes. Use those fancy stitches on your machine and then embellish till it’s covered.  May be done with a sewing machine or embroidered by hand.

Every Thread Queen is an Artist including you! She MUST have a journal book worthy of her queenly thoughts.
 
Journal-It
One Day
This simple technique will have you creating  a journal,  a notebook or a sketchbook.   Wrap some yummy paper in a yummy piece of fabric.  Add those extraordinary threads and embellishments to create some of the best journal books possible.
 
 
Collag-It
3 hours-One Day
Turn an assortment of scraps and threads into a frameable mixed media work of art.  Start with a stray small quilt block, slice it and dice it.  Sew it back together and embellish it.  You now have that piece of art.
