I have been wanting to draw this cow pasture for a long time ...on Hwy 28 on the way to McCormick SC from my house...anyway so i pulled over to sketch it...one of the cows...actually i think they are cattle...black angus...kept watching me and actually seemed to be posing.....so i kept drawing the obliging one in its different poses....finally i noticed it was looking at the road repeatedly and so i checked to see what it was looking at....zooming right by us a jillion bikers...
I dont know if it was a road race or the Augusta Bike club out for a morning ride...Hwy 28 gets alot of bike traffic and there are actual maps online of all the bike routes in this area...this is just one of several...the biker is really a compilation of several of them riding by...shirt here, helmet there....they wear such bright colors...like a flock of birds...
Back to the cattle..friend who grew up on a Kansas farm said that they were very curious always checking out what was going on in their surroundings

ReplyDeleteGreat drawings! Cattle are funny. When I lived in PA we would sometimes start our ride on the rail trail then migrate over to the lakes area for some lung-burning mtbing. We had to pass a big field and the cattle would always moo at us. They can be loud! lol! Big, too. You don't realize it until one is standing right next to you.

*I like the determined look of that biker. He could rode a mountain with that zeal.
