Lemon challenge Part deux

So i redid the lemon challenge because of the silly cup...and in answer to some inquiries about my grandmothers cutting and pasting eyes....she had drawn a lovely lady in pastel but was not happy with one of the eyes and according to family legend she drew another eye and glued it over the one she did not like...in the collection of Joyce and Gary Lytle

and then i remembered that i actually had another lemon that i had done in fabric for International Quilt Festival a few years ago...I made the fruit of the month...one a month for nine months that year...these are paper sized and were to be a set of nine journal quilts...this is the first one in that string and is thread painted...which means that instead of drawing them with pencils I drew them with various colored threads......they were done yearly from 2002 to this year which is the last year of the journal quilt culminating in a book Creative Quilting: The Journal Quilt Project in which i was honored to have more pages than any other of the participants except Gloria Hansen...TOO cool I thought:>

Lemon challenge

Lemons....and lemon water from Earthfare...these are really odd enormous lemons..the one on the right almost has a tripod under it from bumps on the lemon...and they are just huge...i was going to pick up a third lemon when i was at Publix today...theirs were half the size of Earthfares and they were not organic and they were NOT cheaper than the Earthfare lemons

OH about that cup...ummm i glued it on ...didnt like the big stenopad that was the right hand side before i added the cup...my grandmother is famous in family legend for cutting out an eye and adding it to a picture so i thought why not...well i can tell you why not...DONT use so much glue it oozes out under the cup!!:>

the backyard tree frog

I was out on the back deck letting the dogs out last nite...they dont like to go down the stairs unless you fuss at them...and noticed this gorgeous green tree frog hanging out on one of the stair posts looking for dinner...

he was very obliging...he waited while i went in to get my wc molie...and sat there letting me draw him...

he even let me draw him twice ...second one from a different angle...showing more of the frog...i do wish i turned on the light when i drew this one...

this is him from two different angles...not sure why his head is so different in each one other than I didnt turn on the porch light and it was getting dark....hes done with my derwent wc pencils... and some real cp that are mixed up in that box...fun stuff...

I also looked him on the net...so i could journal about him...found out hes Ga And LA state frog..hes found thruout the southeast generally near water swamps or ponds and lives in the bushes near it...they also like porches when the lights are on...they are up to 2.5 inches...this one was a big one...and the big ones are usually male...

When i was younger we used to go camping on the beach at Hunting Island state park (that was before i married dh for the afore mentioned beach house:>)..its right across the sound from Edisto...ANYWAY the beachhouse walls were always covered with these...seemed like hundreds...eating the skeeters..the state bird of SC!

okay so in between knitting and sewing like a

maniac I have been drawing...

GOODNESS COLOR...a journaled page of our class with Kristi that i kept forgetting to scan once i wc penciled it...did i say i really prefer color...i think all of these pages could really benefit from some COLOR!!!
I really liked this living room on one of those designer rooms..going to have to talk to my interior designer Jeff and see what he thinks...i hear he thinks i need a wall of glass somewhere...back of the house I bet...cause i have been thinking that for a while...but then where would we put the fridge and the dw...a girl has to have those!!!

this is a drawing of my son ben with his cat tom...tom usually never sleeps on anyone but he does love his guy ben...evidently ben is getting rid of his "jesus" look as soon as someone paints his picture with his long hair and beard as Jesus...
Fast sketch during faculty meeting...more i look at it the more i think it looks like the teacher...
Lura....this is a drawing of our teacher last friday week...and a sketch following her rules of shading ...meant to ink it but my knitting two pairs of socks, a pair of slippers and most of a HUGE purse got in the way...
One of my really cute students...i am going to do a better sketch of him in wc one day

the kids wanted me to draw a car so i drew this while waiting for my hair appointment downtown..this is ninth street on ri

Drawings, painting and more....

as usual...wonder why i cant eat just one....these are some of the sketches i did this weekend yesterday

This started out as a wc pencil sketch but added prismacolor art stixs to the mix...and then just to be sure i was done I added some pen rapidograph I think...now that i have ink in the koh-i-noor it seems to be stopped up!

This is the original ink drawing in my moleskine that i added wc pencil too...the ink seemed to bleed...using the rotring pen on it...
My son Drew and his girl Emily were home this weekend...we spent the rainy afternoon watching Running with Scissors starring Annette Benning and also Jill Clayburg, Alex Baldwin, and Gwenyth Paltrow...all crazy nuts absolutely bonkers...not a movie I would recommend unless you like watching a bunch of really nutty people...
Drew still glued to the movie...Emily's hand and the start of drews but he moved...and another view of the pot of now defunct daffodils...bytw the pen seemed to bleed on this page..the ink is supposed to be waterproof!!

A very fast sketch of my fav kindergarten class while we were waiting for circle time to start...I did this one along time ago...and had lost it but now its found....so here it is...

MONDAY This is a teapot that I have had for a while...would you believe we have teaparties with it...its drawn with derwent watercolor pencils in the small watercolor molie...

TUESDAY NITE- The Westminister dog show was on last nite so i drew a picture of Jazz lying in state on the new pillows like she had just won the dog show....she is best in show to us!!!

I also drew a series of very quick sketches of Tom kept trying to annoy big kitty thru the window last nite...big kitty cant get in and tom was rubbing it in...

My brother in laws bday quilt finished on Saturday...even the binding...its has wool batting...

A log cabin...going to add a small red border and a black and white polka dot with fused applique border...think it will be gorgeous...of course at the rate i am sewing that will take a year or two since all i seem to do is draw...i have not even bought a scrap of fabric this month...i must be SICKKKK ...if i dont it will be the first month in hmmm ten years??? Wonder if i can make it...half way there!
