Pitcher plant and Trout accordion book

There was a field of pitcher plants and assorted other odd plants in the Conservation area of the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. This is a sketch of them done from a picture. It was tooo hot to sit outside and draw! BYTW pitcher plants have a reservoir in the tube under their flap top. Bees and other animals are drawn into it and fall to thier deaths inside...how can anything so pretty be so nasty....and there were bees all over this section of the garden...they must love pitcher plants...hasnt anyone heard that bees are endangered??? Hmm but then so are the pitcher plants...Most of them only grow in bogs...
Drawn with Derwent watercolor pencils...color was not intense enough sooooo read on.....

The second one is one that I adjusted in Corel Photo Album...which one do you like better???

This is a trout fishing accordion book I started in the mountains in Cashiers. Both of our husbands are avid fisherman...mine is an addict when it comes to fishing so it was fun thinking of thier schedules and rules for fishing...Alot of the items in the drawings were around the house. As soon as I hit a copier with this I will watercolor the book Its about postcard height and 20" long.

Prismacolor pen on some very long watercolor paper I bought at Hobby Lobby earlier this summer.

The back will have a fishy cover and back and recipes with bear sketches. The bear sketches are already done but not the trout recipes. Definitely a very fun project -started on a VERY rainy day in June...kept me entertained for days...lots of erasing and recomposing...TOUGH watercolor paper!!!

Wow, Margaret. I just love the accordion book...shades of D. Price. Soo cool. Love the pitcher plants, and you're right , the second one is better with the deeper color.

I agree. I like the one you adjusted. The Derwent colors did not show up as well here. The variation of colors in the blooms is great.
