Day 62 - Life Painting

I must be getting better at drawing and painting the human figure. I was basically done with her when I left the studio today after only two hours.

I think she needs a few more minor tweaks but basically I am pleased with her.  I usually find the short poses that are typical of other life modeling sessions in town quite intimidating...but somehow the longer two hour pose at USC Aikn does not intimidate me like the others do. A great way to spend a Saturday morning!!

This is my friend Ruth Pearl's lovely pastel on Canson Mi-teinte paper. When I grow up I want to draw like Ruth!

And this is the wonderful work of Professor Al Beyer of USA Aiken's art department.

Day 54 - Live Drawing at USC Aiken

Most Saturdays Prof. Al Beyer has a life drawing class in his studio.  Today we went.  This is what I have done so far!!

Erica

I seem to always get on the shadow side during life drawing lately...well for the long poses....and I like her head...but that shadow on her chest has to go...tomorrow I hope!! Shorten the right arm...oops...thats easy!! Other than that and some tweaking I think she's done.

Maybe a purple or vermilion cloth on the chair?! The blue kind of gets lost.

Thanks for looking!!
