This pattern was in some quilt magazine at the time...we fussy cut a ton of oriental prints from my collection that i have picked up over the years at quilt shows.....I dont think i really liked this top till i added the wonderful Kona Bay print on the edge...and that salmon orange sparkle border...it languished for years in a drawer with just the black border even though i had bought the Kona Bay print for it long ago...
As to my quilting...loving using a long arm...its all unmarked...and i think of it as sketching or drawing on the quilt...its not a precise kind of quilting but rather has the hand of the "artist" in it...my quilting is not like your quilting....I think this is my tenth or twelfth quilt on a long arm...I do one for Kathy at Quiltshop on the Corner than i do one of mine...still have a half dozen or so tops to do...
one of my later butterflies-I McTavished the lines in the wings...well maybe i Mccarthied them: since i have been doing those lines a long time on my regular machine...
I improved as i went...my butterflies got better...maple leaves i could do from the start and those five petal flowers a piece of cake...butterflies and insects continue to elude me...though i can do them with my eyes closed on my Janome 6500...all kinds of bugs...ants centipedes dragon flies and butterflies to name a few...
so i quilted this beauty to death with things like butterflies and ALOT of maple leaves and some flowers all inspired by the oriental prints...and ribbons...i love ribbons...such great space fillers...
