OH NO another guy stupid sock creature

So my crazy mom made another stupid sock creature and OF COURSEEESE this one in another guy...he looks kinda shy to me...what do you think? she said his name is jeremiah...after one of the shy boys at school...who looks at her the same way...hes the one made out of stray socks...he looks cross eyed...those squinchy bright blue buttons...


BYTW WHAT do you think..should she sew that lime green hair on him...she found it when she was digging the paint out...it was dyed with LIME green Koolaid...



SHE put us all in the old icky rocker together for a family portrait...DID You see that Jeremiah stuck his antennae or is it a horn in my face...i mean is that a way to treat a lady??

BYTW THAT rocker...she paid $20 for it at the garage sale place over in Johnston...you know that warehouse full of junk...she moved it out of the garage because her brother the antiquer said it was worth $200...and my big brother drew had ribbed her alot about wasting money on an old icky rocker...but she came out smelling good...didnt she!

A few odds and ends

SO I made a stupid sock creature...read on at the end...(YES would you believe she had the nerve to wait till the VERY end of the post to talk about me...I mean dogs and geese are more important than MOI??!)

My youngest Jack Russell Jazz tried to die on us this week...she had an acute case of pancreatitis...something in common with Pavarotti isnt it? She spent most of this week at the vets on ivs so not got alot done except playing nurse maid while i am home...then my son brought his young Pitt Bull over for weekend babysitting services....just what we needed Jazz and I ...a wild thing....shhhh shes sleeping right now...but like most terriers that changes instantaneously...she s a bundle o energy...

ANYWAY...my grandmother made this for my brother back in 54 or so when he was a baby...odd the bunnys are on a pink background...my quilt that she made for me was on a blue background...she hand painted both of them and then embellished them with embroidery..she was quite the painter and embroiderer...a friend of mine removed the back for me...thanks Gloria!! ANYWAY now i have to sew a back on it again so that i can give it to my brother who finally had twins at the ripe age of 51 or was it 52...and yes he and his wife have been married 26 years ...they just waited:> BYTW they are twin girls so pink is finally the right color...

OK I Know you are going WHY is she posting ANOTHER picture of her backporch...well first as usual its TOO hot out there to enjoy BUT if you look at the right corner...you will see the GEESE...the canada geese float down the river almost every morning looking for groceries...not so long ago half of these were babies.....




This was another group that was flying overhead....i tried to get a pic of all of them in their classic V but my camera will not record fast enough darn it!

I made this out of the last pair of hand dyed cotton socks that i have not worn in four or five years....No name yet...but was thinking of giving it to jazz for a toy...this took me about hmmmm two hours to make by hand...too lazy to go upstairs and use the sewing machine...I am thinking i will paint the lips so they will show up...isnt it a hoot...WELLL FINALLYYY SHE HAS SOMETHING TO SAY ABOUT ME...DID I SAY ITS ABOUT TIME?! NOW HOW ABOUT A FRIEND OR TWO SO WE CAN PLAY WHILE SHE SLEEPS?! OR WOULD THOSE DRATTED JACK RUSSELLS TELL ON US??? I BET THEY WOULD!! My real dad lives here at stupidcreatures!!! Did i tell you i was really adopted? I really really am....

ANYONE have a good name?? was thinking of naming her after some of the kids at school...but not sure thats a good idea...someone might not see the charm in naming her after one of them??? Lashanae??? a real rascal of a first grader...so here she sits on the fireplace mantel....so she can be in charge of all the goings on...

so this is what i have been knitting

trying to think how many socks i have knitted...five pairs that i recently knitted are not in this post...guess i have been nuts knitting??? Because that makes ten pairs or so since the end of march...plus a couple of purses, two pairs of baby booties and a baby hat which i am GOING to finish today before the baby outgrows it!

And OH NO I have enough yarn for 18 more pairs...NOT buying another scrap of sock yarn for quite a while...I was going to buy that yummy Cherry Tree hill yarn in all its color ways but i think i will have to rethink that!


This is the newest pair...still have enough yarn to knit another pair like this ...i knitted the toe and heel out of red yarn i still have another skein of it......these are for my sils birthday present..she knits but she doesnt think she can knit socks...but she knits Christmas stockings...i keep telling her its the same thing just smaller...Jabo yarn....arent they too cute...look very scandinavian...I do like doing the toe and heel in a different color...

This is a pair for a friends birthday...Trekking yarn that has been toughened up with wooly nylon serger thread and the toes and heels are double so she cant rip them out...I hope these last unlike the last pair ...but they did not have any nylon in them to make them tougher...

this was a skein I bought just so i coudl have something to knit...and i didnt care for it very much but i really do like the heathery browns now...think they are quite a fabulous color now...who said browns cant be gorgeous?

Intarsia purse...finished it hmm a month or more ago...still not used it...think i will keep my knitting in it...its enormous...I have been intending to knit a wool flower to go on it but of course not done that...too busy knitting socks:>

I dont know why i knit or sew purses...never use any of them...and they are cute...guess i should list them on etsy or someplace and sell them! Another thing...i discovered while felting this purse and these slippers...i really DONT like the smell of wet wool! EUWWWWW!!!!

A pair of knitted wool slippers looking for a home...they are too big for me and my arches are too high for them so they are not comfortable...but they are CUTE arent they?...who will the lucky recipient be...trying to trade them with a friend who wants a pair for the yarn she bought to knit a pair....good idea right?? BYTW I WONT be knitting another pair of these...knitting the toes was a royal PAIN! going around the tight curve...

THese are mine...arent they yummy....hand dyed yarn from hmm oh Cherry hill yarn...they have a tiny cable in them a four stitch cable...bytw this color is called Spanish moss...Those vermonters must not have ever seen spanish moss...sinces its a pale grey with hints of purple and green in it...not this yummy color:>
This is a skein of trekking yarn that i bought when i wanted to knit a pair of socks...also bought it in blue....so i decided i had to knit it...not going to accumulate a huge yarn stash like i have cloth and NOT use it..big waste of money...
I counted this morning...i have enough yarn for hmm is it 17 pairs of socks...not buying one more skein till these are gone....I swear that is the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth...and i am sticking to it!
This is the next pair...tofusie yarn...will be my third pair of socks from it...its light weight...thin socks...with shrimp or crab shell in it...fun colors though! I made a friend who has to wear socks all year round two pairs of these...and she loves them...so this will be my pair....

knitting fool too

this is for a friends birthday...she has been warned if she kills this one she is done with handknit socks unless she learns to knit them..did i say she has very cold feet? i reinforced this pair with wooly nylon in the foot and doubled the yarn in the heel and toe...you should have seen her last pair i made her...all ripped up and quite pitiful...they were such a lovely red pair...koolaid dyed....
these are going to Connies grandmother who has cold feet..they were going to be for connie...
notice anything odd about these??? first one was knitted in november but i had enough for another pair with purple heels and toes and then one more with a purple toe...i need rip out the bottom one and reknit the toe...they are too big...
this is one slipper before felting...the cat thinks its a toy for him and he trys to kill them...
so i got two done...did i say they were a pain to knit and made my hands hurt??? ANYWAY...i sewed one sole together and now for the life of me cant figure out how to do the other sole...strange I KNOW

after the slippers driving me nuts i decided i needed a fun project to felt WRONG>...this is two days of knitting..enterlac stitch...and its huge...i might get done if Tom woudl quit trying to play with it or sit on it...it will be a very large felted bag when its done

this is the absolute yummiest yarn...and i dont care WHOOOO wants them they are mine...its hand dyed merino wool from cherry hill yarns and bought from Kaleidoscope Yarns ...for some reason these strange people from New England think this yummy color is SPANISH MOSS...now anyone who has ever lived in the south could tell you that spanish moss is grey...maybe with a little brown and purple not NOT this color....
