Rock Hill Guild Lecture and Mary Jos

I am not moving these because I would have to move them ALL the way down to the end of this post. I dont know WHY blogger insists on putting pics at the top and then you have to slide them down the blog....trade one pic for another....CRAZYYY....guess thats why its free???These two pieces are the best silk I bought...some kind of smooth but double sided silk..one side orange and the other pink...then the right one red with magenta...YUMMMYYYY

I was invited to lecture the Rock Hill SC the guild there Monday nite...HUGE group of great ladies...probably going back to teach a class sometime in the next few months...I told them during the lecture that all roads to anywhere lead to Mary Jos. Thanks to Barbara Mosely I had a great time...I mean they serve Girl Scout cookies as snacks...among brie and a few other goodies....WHY did i eat dinner...MY room was well the Taj Mahal did not have alot on it...it was a SUITE...a king sized bed and tv in one room and a sleeper sofa and another tv and a wet bar and a microwave and a fridge...what more could a girl want. Told Barbara we could have had the lecture in my room!! Thats how big it was...so a BIG THANKS goes out to them...a very busy active guild with lots of projects going on...

One time my best friend Rebe and I went to Asheville to drop off quilts for the show. We were supposed to stay and visit with my parents. While at the arborteum at drop off suddenly we got the Mary jos call...we told my parents we had to get home instead of saying and turned that sts west to Mary JOs...I know we were bad...then there was the time we were going to visit my parents and of course the road between augusta ga and asheville nc leads right thru gastonia nc...Mary jos is right on the way isnt it???

I wish I had brought my camera in with me at Mary Jos. The first stop is always the bathroom...and one of them was out of order...had this great corrugated cardboard sign saying DO NOT USE...now I DO wish I had a picture of it...Miss Mary Jo herself was allover the store rearranging, marking down fabric, making signs, climbing ladders to hang signs...and it was nine am...no slouch there... Discussing the bathrooms and the sign with a couple of the clerks I got this red hot rummor .....Mary Jos Rumor mill has it that she is building a new store across Cox road where they are doing alot of construction. The lady just wears us all out...I mean she is in her 70s now...

ALL we can say is PUHLEEZ Miss Mary Jo dont raise the prices....

So this trip I reached my all time personal best at Mary Jos...THREE baskets...NEVER do I buy three baskets and a BOLT of black handdyed hoffman batik..>WHAT was I thinking???
okay so this is what I got at Mary Jos...TOOOO much...but here it is...this is Kims. The cat really liked Kims flannel I got off the sale table...2.99 yard for batik flannels...WHY didnt i buy more...there were two bolts of a yummy brown too...and the yellow...Did I say quilt cat is having fun with kims loot...might have to keep this piece..he loves it...finds it whereever I put it and settles down on it...I also got some pins...and he had to indulge in some pin throwing...thought he had outgrown that...

And then I have to do a couple of class quilts...so I got the pink and lime green...want it to be eyecatching right???

The dog fabric is for a certain lab lover I know...well maybe it will get made one day...thoguth the dog bones were perfect for it...

The Michelangelo fabric. Miss Mary Jo herself marked it down for $1 a yard..now why didnt I buy enough for some quilt backs...its kinda neat. I bought it for an ugly fabric challenge...and its not really ugly...deep purple..figures are from teh sistine chapel ceiling...hard to go wrong with that but evidently Robert Kaufman did...she has a HUGE roll of it...Then I bought silk for jackets...making silk chenille jackets...to sell and really lost my mind buying TOOO Much dupioni...then I had to come home and wash it all BEFORE you make it. Didnt catch one dryer full so its all wrinkled...but isnt it gorgeous...bought silk for a blue jacket a red jacket(maybe two) and a black one...yummmmmyyyyyy ..this is a sorry picture of the base colors....sorry the colors are not better...forgot to turn on the flash....

These are the colors that will show thru the chenilling....13 yards of 26 different colors and boy are they to die for...just might if dh reads this blog...he wont ..he doesnt like computers...

And last but not least...scarves....this is the most yummy feeling stuff...it was with the minkee blanket stuff...1/4 of a yard makes a scarf...so I made 5 yesterday in a half an hour...straight seam and turn them inside out..instant scarf..NO KNITTING...and they are really nice and warm...

DId my left foot say I LOVE this sock??...Hopefully the sad left foot will get one soon...I even dug my magenta slippers out of the closet so they would match my sock...isnt it GAWGEOUS...thanks BETTY ANN!!!!:>>>> My right toes are dancing in the sock... Posted by Picasa

More silk strings...did I say I prewashed all 26 half yards of silk dupioni...WHAT a mess..but lovely strings...too bad the glow does not show up...great doll hair..and who knows what else?? The little twisted strings??? Posted by Picasa

My poor car has logged over 800 miles since Friday...made a quick trip to Rock Hill to lecture to thier lovely guild who gave me accomodations that the Taj Mahal could not beat...and then a flying trip thru Mary Jos where I spent TOO much...making silk chenille jackets...these are the strings from them...covered the whole surface of the scanner... Posted by Picasa

My Lab accordion book

This is the front of the book ... the tie is recycled from some remnants I got at People Places and quilts...they even fancy up the remnants and I saved the ties...and they already came in handy. The book covers were covered with a black fabric with brown bones on it...

This is the back of the book...supposed to be a lab sleeping in the dog house surrounded by a field of tennis ball flowers dreaming of bones Posted by Picasa

This is a picture of a happy shopper leaving People Places and Quilts...dont you love that yellow awning...I thought i took a picture up close of the windows but they seem to be lost...the windows are just fascinating...full of things to look at...I just got back from a two day teaching trip to People Places and quilts in Summerville SC. It was a blast made even more perfect by the fact that I got to spend the nite with the shop owner Diane at her charming little cottage a couple of blocks from the store. We made books in her wonderful NEW studio...I have a jillion stories to tell but will have to do that when I get back from my road trip to Rock Hill SC to give a trunk show to the guild there tomorrow nite...did I say I was getting tired... Posted by Picasa

A shot of the rockers and a close up of the People Places and QUilts sign...I told you they had smiling faces...see its on their sign!!! Posted by Picasa

The yellow rockers...I dont know if I have slowed down long enough when I am at PPQ to sit in them...hmmmm Posted by Picasa

Up the stairs one more time...the store used to be a series of shops in the 1800s and it still retains that charm of yesteryear Posted by Picasa

Another reason to love PPQ...Wrap your Sweetie in Love...a great valentines window...YES I KNOW its over but I had to take a pic...great job Enola Posted by Picasa

The wearables corner at PPQ...always some neat jacket or sweater...and dont you just love the models that Diane makes herself... Posted by Picasa

A little something the PPQ ladies are whipping up for the Charleston quilt show...its so pretty you could use if for a center piece on your table...now WHY didnt I buy one??? DUHH Posted by Picasa

Another neat antique at PPQ with one of the dolls Posted by Picasa
