taking a watercolor class with jim gensheer on thursday mornings downtown...five more classes to go...Hes a funny guy...and very knowledgeable.....does lovely watercolors
this is the beginning of a house picture that we will finish this thursday...loved the technique to do the treeline where it meets the sky...all done at the same time...and then the trees and well my posts dont show.....the trees were scratched into the wet trees...cool stuff...
this is done on Kilamanjaro paper from Cheap Joes mostly with Daniel Smith WC
next we painted in shadows with ultramarine...i went a little grey...not realizing it...because i had no paynes grey to mix and used burnt umber....while it should have been on the blue side i went to the grey side...oh well...
more to come...the foreground and house are not nearly finished...
another neat technique he had us use was to use a sharp pencil to draw the clapboards ...then you erase the pencil...the remaining lines will help define the clapboards when they are painted....more paint will remain in these lines...
did i say i cant wait for Thursday??? and Saturday i am taking an abstract painting class down at the morris museum of art...that also should be fun!!
OK i know you are wondering WHY i didnt paint a jillion more practice sketches? well i have had a house full of company...we wore out the dishwasher:> hung out on the porch till the wee hours...and had a fabulous weekend.d..dcooking out swimming in the pool fireworks...just great...
Too tired to draw but i did finish one pair of socks and start the second sock on the brown striped pair which was a perfect fit for LeeAnn...
Noro Sock yarn...gorgeous colors but this is rough feeling yarn...and i have 5 more skeins that i got half price OH MY does it tangle!!
LeeAnns sock...one down and well i had the ribbing done on the second and decided to pull it out since the stripes did not match...now they do...
Yesterday we had an absolute fabulous downpour after everyone but Ben left...this was taken right before sunset...out the back window....
A beautiful end to a beautiful long weekend on the river...
