Hoochy Mama and even another quilt

These are both quilts i had started...the first one is Mary Lou Wiedemanns Hoochy Mama Quilt a quilt made using innovative piecing...no rules...few rulers except to square up the individual blocks...there are many more varieties of these blocks that the star and churn dash that i made...

I started this when we were in the mountains in August...I do wish i had used not used so many different background prints...really an easy quilt...because of the no rules crazy piecing...biggest trouble was squreing all the blocks up...all
the back of the quilt
I started this quilt for my dad the marine back in January and finally finished quilting it...hes now snoozing under it in Asheville recovering from triple heart by pass ...tough man to be doing well at the age of 86 after that surgery!! Its quilted with all the places he was stationed through out his military career and places that he lived....all done in script all over the quilt top.

Love the exuberance of Hoochey Mama...and that quilt for your father is really special. Hope he will continue to do well after his heart surgery.

I love these quilts and the reason is the wild, free colors and shapes!! Your Dad can only get better under that quilt.
