The postcards - yes I am still working on postcards

If you are tired of seeing these ladies...I did order some new ones from Stampington yesterday..but darn they are not here yet...also ordered some from Teesha Moore at Zettiology....another fascinating website...great directions on how to do a journal...NO JUDY I havent started one!!!..hmm or maybe I should put all the face cards in a journal and call it the face book?!!:>

I was looking at NEW face stamps on Stampers Anonymous(my finger is sore from clicking on all those pages of stamps...and they are such cool ones!!!)
and thinking about some quicker postcards I could do for Virginia Spiegels Cancer Auction...ones that did not take a day each to get done...I thought hmmmm I could just stamp the fabric all over, stamp a face and load it up with stamps and sew it to a postcard...and heres what I got...are they done??? Well now that Virginia has reached her goal of $10000...way to go Virginia!!...and has stopped the auction......I decided I had time to mess with them...so far I embellished the dragon flies on the two vertical ones...BYTW the last one is what happens if you put it on bright fabric and is actually the second one...guess what I am going to make tomorrow...NO NOT to nite...gotta watch antiques roadshow and then BBC Murder Mysteries...

Oh one last note on how I made them...used a batik fabric...stamped it with the face , stamped it with a Mother Teresa stamped saying ...(yes Kay I HAVE IT!!!...I will give it back tomorrow at sewing bee)....umm I used Golden Violet Pearl ex stamp pad...have 4 more but the only ones that show up well are The Golden VIolet and the Copper...or is it Bronze?

The dragon flys are FMQ with gold madiera thread...as are all the sewn bugs.....butterflies, bee...love that cute little bee....also touched up thier eyes with some oil pastel...wonder how they would look with some eye shadow...hmmmmmmmmm.......the little butterflies on the right are to cover a boo boo....first stamp I used looked just awful so I kept stamping over it...I also stamped over the bgus again with purple and black and gold stamp pads...funn....makes them look a little blurry...thinking a few gold beads on these...JUST a few ...really only a few like for eyes on the bugs???

Then I decided...hey lets just stamp the hair....with bugs...do not have any flower stamps...so thats how the next ones arrived...I think they are done except for the back and the edge...

While I was taking my walk today I was looking for stuff to embellish with on the road...our neighbor hoods so neat that all I coudl find was one old sardine can an
d NO I did not pick it up...so I thought what could I use to do a quick card with...ah ha...leaf rubbings...we have plenty of trees in the neighborhood...these are sycamore, two types of oak and a sweet gum leaf...I also thought it would be faster to "rub" some real leaves around a face then it would be to cut them out and sew them down...and right now this one really needs something....dont ask me what...thinking about it...maybe a gold dragon fly...in her hair or a butterfly??? with some swirly yarn...have a large...no make that three large boxes of it and a two gallon bag....so here she is...

Anyway she is made by rubbing the leaves with sennelier oil pastels...and embellished with brown black core Madeira thread...oh yeah and
a little ink...well ya never know what will work right...gave her some eyelashes!!She deserves them with all those nasty leaves!!! Let me know if you can think of any improvements...thinking a beaded bug or two....could only improve the poor child...

The first lady cards are done...here they are....only two needed s
ome work...so I goofed off and finally put the backs on them...bytw in case you are curious...use the double buttonhole stitch on my Janome 6500 for the edge combined with stitch #8...sews over itself several times....oh yeah and I used all that lovely black core madiera on these...doesnt it look great....NO its not on the flower ladies...its on the leaf people.....really adds a nice touch...got it from Rooby at web of thread...

So thats it for today...well at least I think it is...going to go bead my crazy quilt bags...guess I need to make a self portrait tomorrow...for quilting arts...should just use that stamp for the face right?!!LOL
