a sketch a day does not keep

the doctor away...spent the last 24 hours having an acute allergy attack...now totally doped up on allergy meds...should be sleeping but decided if i did that i would stay up all nite and i want to go to work tomorrow...miss my kidlets at school...

Thinking i was feeling better I decided to take pics of the tulip colored pencil sketch i have been working on since 11 instead of sleep
ing....took it with three different camera settings...the first one is the closeup setting...this one is the party setting...no flash

This one was done on the snow setting...no flash

which one looks the most nearly like the drawing??? I think the last...NOPE now that I look at in preview its the second one ...snow makes the white bristol board look pinkish for some reason...

its done with prismacolor pencil on strathmore white bristol board...boy that paper really likes cp!!

I THINK i am going to color the background...and I KNOW i am going to add some more darks to the leaves on the left so the darks are sprinkled across all the leaves...originally this was supposed to be jsut an upclose sketch of the tulips themselves..they are so cool...are they parrot tulips Lin?? From Krogers...took them out of their icky cellophane and plopped them in one of my ceramic pots that needed a plant...when they are done ...out to the yard next to the daffodils...which incidently are in full bloom around here ..the temp in 71...3 degrees above normal for this part of the world...just to the right of Augusta GA in SC

I love this drawing! It's gorgeous!! Really beautiful pencil strokes and colours.

For what it's worth, I really like the first photo. It gives the idea of what your drawing would look like on tinted paper, sort of providing a middle value. I also like the second photo better than the last one. The third photo looks a little washed out - but that's just my opinion.

Lovely drawing!

Beautiful flowers! And it's interesting to see the three settings. I've also tried the different lighting settings and am never sure which is best. I don't have a scanner, so use my camera, but the bright flash seems to wash things out. I think I like the top, darker version of your lovely drawing. The paper looks a more creamy color.

Maggie - brava for a great job in coloured pencil! I admire the fact that you have seen and captured the 'veins' on the petals. My cp stuff is very clumsy in comparison. Well done! Jules
