yesterday i was either at the window or out on the backporch alot...and there were birds everywhere...i counted at least 1 blue heron and five white egrets flying buy...The egrets are roosting on a pile of sticks across the river...going to have to try again for a pic of them.....this is using max zoom on the camera...he was 300 yd away...
a jillion canadian geese acting like some one needs to feed them and their babies...they came 300 yd across the river when they spotted my neighbor...Kim was taking pics too..we decided that someone had been feeding the geese...not us...they will mess up your yard ..
this is the closest they have let the babies come so far....i feel like yelling duck for cover...the geese have seen you! hmmm looks like some of the bushes need to be cut back...but i found out that you should leave a buffer zone between your yard and waterways to keep chemicals like fertilizer out of the waterways...so at least we are doing that right...did you hear me neighbors...quit cleaning the banks;>
.and then there was the obliging motorboater who slowed down for pics...:> does this one count as wildlife on the savannah?
at some point i am going to combine the geese with the sycamore pic into one watercolor...thought i could put the geese right in river between the sycamore and the bamboo

Gorgeous views and love all that wildlife. You have to be sitting there with pen in hand!! :)
What a beautiful area. So glad u shared the photos! We are in the process of moving right now, and both houses are on lakes, but they are not very natural lakes , they were, but they look like manicured lakes now (in a subdivision). But we still get lots of birds; egrets, herons, etc. We used to have gators, but I have not seen them in a long time. :)
What a fantastic scene, Maggie! And great photos to sketch!! hint hint!!!
Maggie, you have an awesome backyard. What a view. I'm envious. :-)
