THE BIG STORM

THE STORM....water white capping on the river..we get alot of tunneling of winds down the river...i think they are called microbursts...this storm kept up for a couple of hours...power was out half the nite...branches o n these trees usually hang down to the ground...but NOT last nite...the tree limbs were out at 90 degree angles...usually hanging down to the ground like a skirt..THE DAMAGE...ABOUT 5-6 trees are down thruout the neighborhood...this is our sycamore and our black walnut that will have to be taken down the rest of the way

The big sycamore did alot of damage as it fell.....but we were lucky that NONE Of the trees fell on the houses...because we would all be needing new houses if they had as big as some of these trees are...

The broken black walnut....
Tree down in the neighbors yard...

This big oak in the other neighbors yard is going down...its appears to be leaning toward the house...which was built around the tree....they are going to cut it down because they are scared it will fall on the house...as big as it is that would take out half the house...The huge branch out of the oak. and there is another tree down in the background...another BIG tree...not as big as ours...we win with the biggest tree down..Carlos' pile of wood...hes been busy
A BIGGGG tree......

Wow - it looks like it must have been terrifying, Maggie. We've been getting more and more of those powerful high winds here in Europe as well - apparently this will increase in the future with climate change. I'm so glad you weren't hurt.

Oh boy, that looks like one heckofa storm! We have a new kitty who is terrified of storm and thunder. She would STILL be in the basement in the storm like that.

I experienced a similar storm in the town I live in. It wasn't nearly as bad as this one that you documented. But because everyone ignored the damage and pretended it didn't happen, the damage was 10 fold what it should have been. Nice blog.
