My house: EDM Challenge 165

this is a wc pencil and ink sketch of our house...i actually resorted to using the side of a postcard for this because of all the jillion straight lines....NEVER draw a house like this on wc paper...bump bump bump Straighlines are OUT on it:> think this is on Canson cold press paper in a sketchbook BUT i threw out the label sooo not sure...

Anyway this is our house...it is not as big as it looks but it very TALL...three stories plus the roof...I dont know what style this architecture is...I call it Hilton Head style which was very popular when it was built...

BEAVER story about the house...originally there were two red maples on each side of the house...a beaver lives in the river bank in the back...he climbed out and ate the one on the right side of the tree before we moved in...he also ate a couple of sycamores on the bank of the river in the back...HUNGRY beaver....finally planted a replacement a couple of years ago...that little spark of red on the right...one day it will be pretty....Now that there are more houses the beaver doesnt come up in the yards anymore....so it should be safe!

Most of the rooms are only one deep though so that most have a river view...Two flights of stairs from the garage area to the bedrooms...thank goodness most of our ceilings are a standard 8 feet...those stairs will make us move one day!

its built in the flood plain so like a beach house it is really up on stilts...58 of them to the bedrock....the whole "first" floor is used for parking and storage...we will be in trouble if it ever does flood...there go all the Christmas decorations....

Ohhh. and we are kind of fond of the critters out here in Oregon...Oregon State University Beavers...Portland Beavers our Triple A baseball team...However, Beaver Cleaver never seems to learn his lesson.

Love the drawing AND your descriptions and stories about the house! I want to see the rear view, too, with all the windows :-)

This is really very nice! I like the way you handled the foliage too. We've been having rain, rain, rain so I haven't even begun my house sketch.

I love coastal architecture, with or without stilts. We have a 2 story... and those stairs are about my only exercise. Thanks for posting.
