So I stayed up way to late last nite doing watercolors done with Daniel smith wc on differnet 140 lb papers...each one had a different tooth or texture too it...finally went to sleep around 2:30 and the sofa is looking really good right now...but I have to take the pups to the vets in a minute...in the meantime blogging the out put from last nite...two good ones I think and one well it needs more work...and it will get it when I get home...after I run a jillion errands... Done on inexpensive Bienfang Papier-D'Acquarelle watercolor paper that I got for practicing on.
This is a pic that I found the original of on wetcanvas last nite while I was surfing...i usually dont do others paintings but I have a friend who loves to go to the Asilomar quilt retreat and I think I will give this to her for a house warming present...shes building her dream house with a killer studio up on Lake Thurmond in McCormick SC.
This is a smaller one of the same pic- postcard sized to mail dh while I am gone...the first one is scanned and the second is a photo...wierd how different they look...the scan is too light and the photo is too dark...its has interference blue and green and some silver added to it which is what the shiny stuff is...it does not look that shiny in person. Done on Jack Richesons Watercolor postcard 140 lb wc paper that I got at Pearl Paint in Atlanta...has a really nice texture to it...the surface is called"Beautiful rought white surface" and looks kinda wavy compared to other watercolor papers and it feels much heavier than other 140 lb paper. with a 25% rag content.
the last one well was a disaster...its not really done...may never get done....a rehash of the one that I did in my molie which I posted on Sat...that one was much better....but this is really what the house in Edmonton looks like...funny how memory changes things....good to have pictures to remember accurately...Fabriano Paper Acquarello Watercolour Stuido Grana Fina 140 lb paper...has cotton content and also feels much heavier than the Bienfang....

Funny lady...nope no lessons just practice...and maybe these Daniel Smith wc help...also have lights and darks and mediums??? So they dont look like washed out wc?
Maggie, I see we had a go at the same picture, cool! I like how your wcs turned out. What's the difference in the different Daniel smith papers, can you give a little more info? Good job!
Ooh, I love these postcards. So painterly. Great job!!!!
I love the seascapes. I've struggled mightily with painting the ocean. You've done a wonderful job with these!
The views of the sea are so well executed...not an easy task in my book. Your friend should be thrilled to receive one...I would.
