So its the sixth of may...

hmm what happened to cinco de mayo??? anyway sat out on the front porch today enjoying the lovely cool weather after a weekend of rain and the breeze....and painted these...these are the culprits of the small gum ball...well first three are oaks...the one on right is the HUGE sweet gum tree that was dropping all the gum balls on the driveway...its so tall I couldnt see any leaves...it terrifies people when they back down our driveway...people that built our house laid the driveway out so you have to back up AROUND the trees...which is only right since these are old growth trees...I had fun playing around with both of these with the flowy juicy colored wet wc paints...and i really went to town on the second one...I was trying to get some of the i think its azilarin red into it and had fun letting it just flow around ...\bytw you might need your shades:>

I'm so glad you did both. I like the fluidness and vibrant color

You are obviously having way too much fun! Keep this up, and we'll have to limit your color use! Love the paintings!

Maggie,
This are both so wonderful, expecially the exuberance of color in the second one. Is this the result of Charles Reid lessons? If so, do you have a favorite of his books?

Nice and loose sketches, both of them!

Oh, Margaret, you are quite a water colorist! I love them!! Sweet gums are some of my favorite trees, although they don't grown in our area of Texas...only East Texas, but some folks plant them. When our John was little, he just loved the balls.

Say, how are the air conditioner wars going? Man, it's hot here in Jackson, Tennesse...we blew a tire.

Hang in there, girl, the end of school is in sight!!!!!

Maggie you sure had a lot of fun doing these sketches. I like all that scribbling and also the colours in the second one. You always so intense! =0) Great job!

These have a magical quality (without in any way being twee). The fluidity is lovely in both and after much umming and erring I think I like the top one best

Hi Maggie- I stopped by to surf your creative adventures, and WOW! I'm so impressed that you're doing the every day in may creative thing- and the pieces you're posting are so cool :)

I really got a kick out of your portrait of your son, and these wildly colorful trees. Your 'playing around with color' always rocks.
