spent the afternoon in pursuit of books to spend my 20% off tomorrow at borders...and read several...all were mixed media books...and one really neat journaling book...lots of great ideas to get you going...
ALso did some quick sketches on the only paper i had...my new dayplanner from school...after all i was reading mixed media books right??/ i thought it was appropriate...but i can GUARANTEE you I will NOT go to borders again without a sketch book...theres a dirth of them at borders...i know i looked...i would have bought one...the other buyers were most obligingly posing for hours today! and me with NO sketch book!!!
...of course the SCANNER is STILL Not working so i cant upload them...grr...there was an elderly couple...about 80 or so and a young girl that just sat around forever begging to be drawn...so i finally did...but YOU cant see them since i cant scan them! grrr
HOLD IT after TWO tries downloading the scanner software from HP and reinstalling again it finally decided to work...I thought it might have been getting a little tired after four years of scanning but NO it has to be some kind of odd incompatiblity issue with this mac...every once in a while I have to reinstall the software WHY??? I WANT TO KNOW...but at least its working right???
BACK to those books...
anyway some of the neat books I perused were -thinking of buying the first two tomorrow...or maybe the first three...no make that two of the first three...first one and hmm which other..have two coupons!
the journaling book Visual Chronicles by Laura Wood...hid it with the van goghs so i could get it after work tomorrow...bad right??
artist trading cards by bernie berlin..lots of interesting fiber, paper, and mixed media techniques in a small format...made me want to make some more atcs..OH and books and ideas for storage-
Mixed Media Collage Holly Harris...five artists in detail and then a gallery of other mixed media artists...very interesting...LOTS of techniques using every kind of medium...fiber, art and paper AND journaling
Secrets of Rusty Things by Michael DeMeng...neat mixed media 3 d artist...great website if you google him...details on how to make his constructions and a sort of journal on the sides of the page...
least interesting was Angela Cartwright(of Make Room for daddy and Lost in Space fame) In this house but i thought it could be a fun technique to do with a group of my friends...they made house altered books using a ton of different techniques...lots of great pics...also using just about any media for construction of these!
Faculty meeting sketches...really wanted to post the whole sheet cause i thought it was kind of fun and altered right...i mean we used to call these doodles but now we can call them altered art...i altered the faculty meeting agenda:>
Somebody's keys and a doodle or two...no wait make that CALLIGRAPHY!!
Ms. Jenkins cellphone...Its been so long since i scanned anything...i know there are some more sketches around here some where...

Maggie -- I LOVE LOVE LOVE your children photos .. your writings about school, and how much the love you have for these wee folks just oozes from your pen and brush. I know you must find your work so rewarding, and we can't ask more than that!
Great sketches! I have a bunch, too, in my moleskine, but I haven't had the time to scan. It's homeschool time again and I've been busy, mostly because I am bad at time management!. Wonderful to see your work again.
