A trip to Mary Jos

Had a great flying trip to Mary Jos today...left at 7:45....Kim had to stop and get some coffee before she could leave Georgia for the great state of SC...She picked me up and we headed up to McCormick to initiate Joyce L who has just moved here from CA in the ways of Mary Jos...Joyce brought me a present...the new Joan Colvin book and is it ever gorgeous....Breakfast at the greatFrench restaurant Hardees with an accent- is it agiu or grave over an e-home of the great bacon egg and cheese biscuit...a French specialite???

After an uneventful trip and not too many pit stops we arrived at Mary Jos ready to shop...explaining to Joyce to be sure to get a receipt to tally all her purchases and god forbid loose the receipt.....and a basket...we showed her the bolts and bolts...the home decs, the silks....the bathrooms...a Mary Jo classic...we dug thru remnants samples and assorted other piles of stuff back in the pattern section...like did you know that Mary jos now has some yarns and some knitting needles...nice bamboo ones...in almost any size....

So I bought some nice butterflies to use on the postcards...looked over the sales bolts...and the wild polka dots...and then we went to the home dec section to look for trims...and boy did I find some cool trims....ribbon trims and tasseled trims and wild fringes...yummmmm...

even reminded us we had to meet Kims brother Damon for lunch...missed going to the best restaurant in Gastonia by minutes because we had to go shop at the Bernina store...new owner is a lovely lady...very sweet very enthusiastic...and one of the most helpful sales people I haveJoyce was doing very well for a newbee....she run across in a long time...The Bernina store near Mjs is always a great place and its even better now...easier to find stuff....Check it out next time you got to Mary Jos....

then we met Damon for lunch...late ....and ended up eating Mexican at Cancun restaurant and dont ask me where it is because I havent a clue...around the corner and down the street to the right from Mjs...

Back to MJs...where I finally got into trouble buying fabric to match my trims...ah well you only get to Mjs once or twice a year...and I did fairly well there....I had to have some of these yummy silks in my favorite icky greens and so reasonable at $8 a yard...for reallll silk!!!

I did okay in the morning...got out for less than $100 but I had all that trim and needed some fabrics to go with them...so after resting up we went back...and I discovered how you get to see the upholstery fabrics at Mary Jos...there are these big strong young men who pull them out for you and will even cut them if you dont want toooo much....and proceeded to cut hmmm was it 7 or 8 pieces of that...dont ask me what for? Maybe purses...you all know I dont necessarily know what i buy

the stuff for when I get it...but i use it sooner or later... The Tropical island scene is some fabulously expensive upholstery...but isnt it gorgeous...Joyce oversaw that I got the right number of repeats...and it might be frameable instead of sewable but i do have this perfect ribbon trim to go with it...

Banana tree tapestry...well I just love the old 1940s look of banana trees...great stuff...

And I have alot of friends that collect elephants with the trunk up...a great black and tan tapestry print...and then therest the lady bug tapestry...too cute to leave...and no it didnt get its pic made but its great...and all those fun polka dots...did I say I LOVE polka dots...happy fabric...just dont make me wear them in a dress...purse yes dress NO!!

Worn out we left the store...4 ish...or was it 5ish...stopped at the Scottish restaurant Mac Donalds....and got some milkshakes compliments of Joyce...and hit the road...saw the world famous Peach water tower in Gaffney SC...and whizzed right on by that terrific outlet mall there.....we were home sooner than we knew...good company is like that...isnt it...darn Kim I left my new T square ruler in your car...guess I need to call you?!

Glad to hear you and Joyce got hooked up. I'm getting closer to the move to SC - about 3 weeks. Perhaps I can meet y'all on the next trip!
