The King of Spades

I made this five or was it six years ago...it has been on tour with the Artful Deck since then. This is my husband who loves to fish..in this case for spade fish...no idea what a spade fish looks lke but this worked for me....

the background fabric is hand dyed shibori...all the goldy brown on the black was done with a beach gel pen...black Kona cotton I think.

The quilt is heavily thread painted, beaded. It has things like fish on his clothes and hooks and even a lure...I signed it upside down...I like it this way better than the other end up...now that its home i am going to pick out my signature and put it on the right end of this playing card...

Love this, Maggie, especially the little spade fish! Is the entire deck online somewhere?

This is gorgeous! I love looking at all the little details to go in to making the entire piece. Thanks for sharing.
