Well finally over my latest bug whatever that was (probably too much fun and staying up too late!)and here are some of the sketches and watercolors that I did whilst at Edisto beach..This one is somehow a quintessential beach picture...my croc flip flops kicked off on the beach with an empty bottle of Dasani water...and beach litter...and what would a day at the beach be without sea gulls and terns...these are mostly black headed terns...never got around to coloring them...did you know that Derwent watercolor pencils will melt in the sun???
My son Drew and his fiance Emily and Jazz vegging at the beach on a rainy day watching NO not the tv but a dvd on thier mac laptop.......who woulda thunk ??? The only person who cooperated was Jazz...Emily and Drew kept moving around and then Drew left before I did the watercolors...hard to do his beard when he s not there...
When we go to the beach we always take our dogs...this is Pete who is soon to be a famous dog ...my thread painting of him is going to appear in a book this fall....This is our Jazz...shes in several pictures as shes quite the social butterfly....Charley was usually glued to me so not as drawable...right now hes at my feet....The obligatory shells...Edisto is littered with shells...most are really just pieces or worn out but they are everywhere and there are also fossils....sharks teeth...hmmm usually I add a sharks tooth or two but not in this one...MOst people who walk on the beach at Edisto have thier heads down and carry a bag...looking for sharks teeth...they are really hard to find till you learn the trick and then they can be everywhere you look...These people were fishing maybe 20 yards off shore in the St Helena Sound...they werent very cooperative...they kept moving around as did their boat...didnt they know they were supposed to hold still???

MAGGIE!! THESE ARE STUPENDOUS!! tHE COLORING ON YOUR SHELLS, Drew, the perspective of the chair!! Your puppy, the flip blops!! GORGEMENTOUS!
Every one a work of art. Great detail.
Beautiful! I still have one week until I'll see the sea again. But your drawings made me smell and feel it already :)
Wow! These are amazing! I love the brightly colored ones of the dogs and the shells. The boy on the beach has an interesting perspective-- close up of the boy with the beach in the background that I like too.
These are really nice sketches. Almost makes me feel I was at the beach too!
